The 1920’s Mood

The rejection of the traditional and the embrace of the modern makes the style and spirit of the 1920’s a special one in history. Women were unchained from the domination they had lived under for generations, now free to express their true selves and their new freedom.

The picture show women celebrating who they are, in ways that would lead to a social backlash and the rise of conservative politics as a way of preserving the nation and the culture from these unnatural instincts.

Today we would call them the culture wars. It is interesting to note that the freedom of women has always galvanized and mobilize the hard right and religious conservatives.
